LUMEN - Digital Ethiopia 2030
A unified network of Ethiopian public-service platforms
2025 - Presentgovtechplatformidentity
LUMEN (Law, Unified Management, Evidence Network) is a family of Ethiopian public-service platforms I'm building under one shared identity and design system. Rather than a scatter of disconnected government tools, LUMEN is a single trust network that citizens and institutions sign into once and move across.
The Network
- stamp.et: digital stamp, seal & document notarization for organizations
- report.et: citizen reporting and complaint routing
- valu.et: a personal vault for government documents
- Criminal records: a national registry
- …with more services joining the network
What I Built
- The lumen.et landing: a server-rendered React Router 7 site, fully trilingual in English, Amharic (አማርኛ), and Oromiffa (Afaan Oromoo)
- Lumen Auth: the shared identity provider (built on Zitadel, OIDC) that gives every service in the network single sign-on, so a citizen or an institution has one account across all of LUMEN
- A shared UI package so every service looks and behaves like part of one coherent system
The Idea
Each LUMEN service is strong on its own, but the real value is the network effect: a document stamped in stamp.et can be attached to a complaint in report.et, stored in valu.et, and verified by anyone, all under one identity, one design language, and one evidence trail.
